Sometimes, I wonder. Drake's working on everyone else's album except is... or are all these video appearances and hook obligations part of his barter for a decent debut album? Drizzy better shock us like he promises! Here's the new video from Timbaland featuring Mr. Oh-So-Successful.
What happens when you put 12 best friends in a house to live together? Things get real -- real big dance party orgies, that is. Hosted by the Young Money crew, their new video for "Bedrock" is the YM version of the Jersey Shore. They drink, smoke, harass their roommates and at any given time, there's an unknown woman chillin in your bathtub. Enjoy this guilty pleasure.
Cash Money's got Drake working overtime with all these video appearances and hook duties... Oh wait, this is for the fam. Birdman gets a little help from his friends...even Tyga gets a little face time.
Warning: Motion sickness may incur. Hustle, hustle, grind, grind... the streets are fed up. ::Giggle:: Look at Lil' Drizzy just hanging in the back tryin' look all cool until it's time for his verse...
Em brought it the AMA stage with "Crack A Bottle" while Fiddy played backup. The most lyrically R-rated performance was left for later in the night, and they even threw in a short version of "Forever" so Eminem could spit his best rhymes. Too bad Drake was in the house but couldn't be bothered with gracing the stage for this once.
The new boys on the block Drake, Cudi and Jeremih introduced the legendary diva Mary J. Blige to AMA stage. MJB is always consistent and never disappoints; those youngin's might learn a few things from her. Here's to Drake's Mom's fave artists... she's gotta better taste than her son.
Straight from the Cash Money vault, Birdman's latest album Pricele$$ is everything you've already heard from the Lil Wayne music factory. Loads of money, ice gleaming off every visible body part, and of course, tons of spinning shiny rims on flashy rides, sounds like Weezy is cutting some chunky checks for Birdman -- that or he's really nice and the goodies are on loan. And not to worry, Drake gets his part on a few hooks to secure Young Money's financial success. But whose album is this anyways? The cover says Birdman, but Lil Wayne, Drake, T-Pain and even Kevin Rudolf make saving grace appearances drowning out all chirps from the Man.
Birdman admits it's always "Been About Money" which quickly fades right into the ever notorious spending habits of the Cash Money crew on "Money To Blow" and, oh wait, if you ever wanted to know the insider details on their business plan it's all revealed on "Money Machine."
Now that we've covered that, Bird goes on to rap about the things that really matter. From the streets to riding around with suicide doors, Birdman spits his hustle on "Priceless," but it's Weezy's flow over a rocking guitar that really saves the track. Birdman's southern style and twangs surprisingly compliments Wayne's autotune whine. Trip-rock track "I Want It All" featuring Lil Wayne and Kevin Rudolf sounds like Wayne is testing his rock side on Bird's album, and it actually works for the most part.
Sans all the paper chasin' tracks, Bird and Drake are BFFs when it comes to partying in style on "4 My Town (Play Ball)" and "Mo Milly." And what's a party without a banger or two -- the autotune king T-Pain gets it done on "Shinin." And Bird actually manages to shine on "Always Strapped," but not long enough to remember Pricele$$ as an affective album.
Cash Money better get ready to change their name to Broke Entertainment if they keep putting Drake on every hook. Not a sound business plan Mr. Weezy. I'm sick of hearing Drake talk about his champagne diet (who the fuck gets drunk off champagne?!) and his cash flow. Son, that's Degrassi money and don't act like we all don't know that. PS -- your laces are untied. Don't trip and fall. Oh, wait...
The super egos that came together on "Forever" are finally out in video format. If there was a fantasy league for rappers, Eminem would make the squad 'cause he's insane[ly] amazing, Wayne 'cause who doesn't find an alien intriguing, Kanye 'cause he's crazy and Drizzy 'cause he's...'cause he's...worth an automatic win if the team ever goes up against some teenage girls. Hello, DREAM TEAM!
The Blueprint 3 leaked. Shocked. I know. Now ya'll need to understand the golden years of Jay, his rhymes, beats and vociferous swagger are in the past. From now on, we will only receive "Jay-Z presents..." type of albums from the great rapper. Not to say The Blueprint 3 isn't full of amazing verses because it certainly is. But in this economic disaster, it's only right of Jay to bring along his friends for the ride and share some of the spotlight. Rappers gotta eat, too. Fueling the buzz, Jay cosigns Drake (who hasn't), brings lil' bro Kanye along, babygirl RiRi kills with looks and vocals and Kid Cudi gives the Hipsters some love as he gets creative. The only one missing from this compilation is TIP, sure he's in the clink, but really, Jay, you couldn't arrange for a jailhouse session.?! Back to the point, best track on The Blueprint 3 are "Real As It Gets" featuring Young Jeezy -- shit is pure fire. And let it be know, Swizzy may recycle himself to every rapper out there, but at least he twists it up enough to make it credible, especially on "On To The Next One" -- clearly superior or Timbo's "Ain't I" which is just boo-boo. "Run This Town," "D.O.A.," "Brooklyn Goes Hard," "My President Is Black," "Blow The Whistle" and "Jockin' Jay-Z" -- the tracks are what they are. It should be a general rule that if tracks leaks way before the album drops, said artist should add two new tracks to the album for each leaked. Let's hear some more NEW Jay...make it worth my while. PS - Jay, can you get over your Oasis hate, those bros have enough problems...
Welcome to the greatest Sweet 16 party you've ever been to... Screaming teenage girls stormed the stage and left their boyfriends in the dust as they squeezed in for a spot to touch the ever-so-sexy, mostly shirtless Trey Songz. Mr. Successful himself let the ladies wait it out as they danced and rhymed along to every jam the DJ was spinning. FINALLY! Trey takes the stage and just as he's getting ready to let loose, Drake makes a no-so-sly entrance into the crowd to introduce his boy. If you thought Trey's abs got the ladies screaming, you've never seen Drizzy enter a room and head to the VIP area like the baller he is. Poor Songerz, he thought it was his time to shine but got upstaged by a partying Drake. Too bad they didn't have some Rose for Drake because he bounced soon after.
All in all, Trey puts on a mediocre show -- performing "Ready" and "LOL." Sure he's got fly status and his music is harmless, sexy, fun -- but where is the stage presence? Seems like Drake got him all shook up. Next time, Trey.
